Standard Warranty Claim Procedure
All Standard Warranty claims must be directed to Whalen's Speed R&D for assignment of a return label to facilitate inspection.
Email your original purchase receipt to sales@whalentuned.com for warranty initiation and a return label. Following the supply of the return, WSRD requires the engine to be returned to our facility for inspection and final determination of claim eligibility. Upon receipt of the engine, WSRD will disassemble the engine to determine if product manufacturing, assembly, parts defect, improper installation, or improper tuning directly or indirectly caused the engine to prematurely fail. After engine teardown is complete WSRD will determine whether warranty coverage applies. Once the warranty process has been initiated a warranty claim/inspection form will be provided via email. (You will receive this from sales@whalentuned.com.)

Enhanced Warranty Claim Procedure
All Enhanced Warranty claims must be directed to an WSRD Certified Engine Installer for the assignment of a return label. Following the supply of the return label, WSRD requires the engine to be returned to our facility for inspection and final determination of claim eligibility. The client must authorize the Certified Engine Installer to remove the engine from the vehicle. Upon receipt of the engine, WSRD will disassemble the engine to determine the cause of failure. After the engine teardown is complete, WSRD will determine whether warranty coverage applies. If the engine is deemed to be covered under warranty, WSRD will reimburse the Certified Engine Installer for a predetermined cost of labor. If the engine is not deemed to be covered under this limited warranty, the client will be responsible for all labor costs associated with the removal and reinstallation of the engine or components. Once the warranty process has been initiated a warranty claim/inspection form will be provided to the Certified Engine Installer and this must be returned to WSRD with the shipment of the client's engine.

Warranty Claim Procedure Extended
Once the engine is returned to WSRD's facility, the client will be notified that the engine has arrived and will be provided a time frame on tear down. Once the engine is torn down and inspected, the client will receive a detailed email presenting the found damage and pictures along with the warranty eligibility.
- If the engine is found to follow the parameters of the WSRD craftsmanship/workmanship warranty, the client will be notified and the engine repairs will be completed immediately at the expense of WSRD.
- If the engine is found to NOT follow the parameters of the WSRD craftsmanship/workmanship warranty, the client will be notified in this email.
- If the engine is found to NOT follow the parameters of the WSRD craftsmanship/workmanship warranty, WSRD will further discuss replacement component(s) options.
- If the client chooses to not accept the warranty decision, the engine will be returned to the client on the client's expense.
- If the client chooses to accept the warranty decision WSRD will begin coordinating supplied component(s) or ordering new replacement component(s).
The client will be notified that the engine component(s) have been received and when the engine begins its assembly. Once assembled, the client will be notified that the engine is completed and will be shipping that same day or the following day depending on time of completion. Once a shipping label is created, the client will be notified and this information will be supplied. Once the engine is returned to the individual or Certified Engine Installer the engine must be unboxed immediately to identify if the engine was damaged during shipping. If the engine is damaged in shipping, these engine component(s) will be covered at the expense of WSRD. If the engine is not damaged in shipping, please proceed with the installation.
Please note: all engine warranty claim communication will be conducted via email. If a phone call is needed to further explain details of the warranty claim, this phone call will be documented via email and supplied to the client for approval. Email communication between individuals and Certified Engine Installers ensures details are documented for WSRD internal use.

Engine Break-In Procedure & Process:
As noted above, the WSRD Engine Warranty is 100% backed by Whalen Tuned tuning solutions. This is extremely important when changes are made to compression, the cylinder head, and camshafts. The following steps must be taken after installation;
- Install a new oil filter, unless previously done prior to the engine shipping to your installers location. Please use a conventional engine oil for initial start up.
- Once the engine is filled with oil, please let the machine run to operating temperature and continue with bleeding the cooling system.
- Once the engine is bled, proceed with draining the conventional start-up oil and switching over to your primary oil option; Amsoil, XPS, Schaeffer's and others are acceptable.
- After these listed steps are completed, please proceed with creating a single datalog that must be sent to john@whalentuned.com. This log must include 30 seconds of idle time, 30 seconds of cruising time, and a short 3-4 seconds wide open throttle pull. Your wide open throttle pull must be limited to 3-4 seconds, you are NOT looking for a world record speed run.
- Once this datalog has been sent to John, if changes to the tuning are made, you must create a second datalog with the same parameters. If multiple tune revisions are created, this process and datalog must be sent until John has cleared the machine to run beyond these parameters.
- Once engine and tune operation are validated, enjoy!
- Oil change intervals after installation should follow at 250 miles, 500 miles and 1000 miles. You will notice some discoloration after the first and second oil changes. This will be a result of the moly on engine fastener hardware, and assembly lube used during assembly. If there continues to be discoloration in the oil, or questionable debris in the oil or oil filter please consult with Whalen's Speed directly before further operation of the machine.
All end users, and certified installers must follow these steps after engine installation. Failure to follow these steps and procedures will result in the voiding of your engine warranty, or worse, a catastrophic engine failure.
